Racing round the clockface

Do you remember time seeming limitless when you were a child? There was time to go out and play. Enough time to watch your favourite telly programmes. Time to curl up in a corner with a book. Time seemed simple and straightforward - you didn't need to wear a wrist watch. Imagine the following: you see a calm stretch of water with ripples billowing out over the surface. The ripples are events - good and not so. The water absorbs excess energy from the events and thereafter everything moves on the surface as in a calm dance. Time felt manageable.

Sejual's Corner

I got to go to a book launch this last month. How exciting! Now before you start searching the Times Bestsellers list I have to admit it's legal tome. So I don't think we'll see it nestled alongside Gordon Ramsay's latest offering.

My friends and former colleagues, Emma Sanders and Elizabeth O'Neill have written about UK Competition Law Procedure. It was fun catching up with people I worked with at the launch.

And the nicest things about it all? Emma came up to me and mysteriously said . . .

Nature at her most amazing and inspiring.

Scientists tell us that the picture is a circumhorizontal arc, which occurs very rarely. This phenomenon occurs when light passes through wispy, high-altitude cirrus clouds and only when the sun is positioned very high in the sky. To make it even more of a rarity, the main component of cirrus clouds -- hexagonal ice crystals -- must be shaped in a specific way and with their faces parallel to the ground.
