Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a simple ancient Japanese body and mind balancing technique that can be used for self-healing and personal development. This gentle touch modality involves the transfer of universal healing energy to help improve a person’s health.  It is powerful though natural. Reiki is known worldwide by people from every different walk of life and background. It does not require you to accept any particular belief system other than a desire for a better quality of life.

General benefits include stress reduction, natural pain relief, and a deep level of relaxation that promotes the body’s own self healing abilities.  It often results in a wonderful sense of well-being during the session and for some time after.

In its long history of use it has been effective in helping with many illnesses and health problems. Whilst Reiki is not a substitute for medical diagnosis and intervention it is nonetheless a safe complement to such care as it supports the body towards better wellbeing.  It works well in conjunction with other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve unpleasant side effects and promote recovery.

Scientific studies are now showing that hands on healing, like Reiki, does have a tangible effect in improving health. In a study reported in July 2008, Professor of Surgery at the University of Connecticut, Gloria Gronowicz PhD, found that healing work performed by trained energy healers significantly stimulated the growth of bone and tendon cells in lab dishes.

An updated list of clinical studies reporting the effectiveness of Reiki can be found at no charge at the Centre for Reiki Research site.  You will need to register to see the list.

During the session the client either lies or sits fully clothed whilst being treated.  The practitioner gently places her hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions on or around the body.  A light touch is involved with no pressure placed on the body, making it ideal for treating all ages and conditions.  The first appointment will include a brief consultation regarding your general health and well being to help me better provide treatment.

Frequency of treatment: a minimum of three treatments is recommended. The effects of Reiki build up cumulatively and a course of treatments will help to produce long-term beneficial changes for you on many levels. A course of such treatments will support the natural rhythms of the body and be more effective than sporadic sessions.

Reiki sessions may be booked weekly, fortnightly or less often. A treatment plan will be devised with you to suit your needs and preferences whilst remaining flexible in response to the progress you make.

I am qualified to Reiki Master/Teacher level.
